Karen Rodriguez started dancing at the age of three and was a competitive soloist and group dancer. Her training includes, jazz, ballet, pointe, tap, lyrical, modern, gymnastics, & acrobatics. For all four years of high school, she competed on the varsity gymnastics team. Karen discovered her love of teaching her freshman year, working for a Gymnastics summer camp program for children. During college, Karen continued dancing, working for dance companies in New York and NJ. Karen graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelor’s degree in teaching. After graduating she taught for 6 years at a school in West Orange, NJ before opening up Tumble Zone in June of 2014.
Melissa Ciancia has a degree in Elementary Education and continuing education in Mental Health Counseling. Melissa grew up dancing and has a background in gymnastics coaching, and has grown a passion to instruct children in a way that challenges them and builds up self-confidence. Melissa always had a desire to own a business and after teaching in West Orange for 3 years, the idea for Tumble Zone came to fruition in 2014. In addition to Tumble Zone, Melissa is involved in Missions at Love and Hope Children’s Home in El Salvador, and volunteers at children’s ministry events.
